| Xinqiao Hospital is the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Army Medical University. It was founded in 1944. Its predecessor was the army hospital of the Kuomintang Military and Political Department. It was reorganized into the General Hospital of the Southwest Military Region in 1950. It was transferred to the Seventh Military Medical University in 1955. It is the Second Affiliated Hospital and is known as Xinqiao Hospital. In 1975, it was renamed the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Third Military Medical University. The present site was selected by the older revolutionaries such as He Long and Deng Xiaoping. Now it has been built and developed into a large-scale comprehensive modern teaching hospital with advanced equipment, complete disciplines and strong technical force, which integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care. It is the first three-level first-class hospital in China and the first foreign-related designated hospital in Chongqing.
The hospital has 2860 beds, 289 international first-class intensive care beds and 43 modern laminar flow purification operating rooms, including 42 100-grade laminar flow operating rooms and one hybrid operating room, including 360 degree rotating intensity modulated radiation therapy system, the world's most advanced Leksell C intelligent gamma knife, 640-layer dynamic volume CT, and the third generation T. More than 2,000 international advanced medical equipments such as 64-row PET/CT, 3.0 Tesla dual-gradient MRI, four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound and INNOVA 3100 flat-panel digital subtraction angiocardiography system with a total value of 1 billion yuan are equipped with OF technology.
The hospital has 45 clinical and medical departments, of which 10 are key disciplines at the national level (respiratory medicine, cardiovascular medicine, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, urology, neurosurgery, general surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery), and 1 is a key specialty of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (integrated Chinese and Western medicine kidney) Focus on disease construction specialty, Military Medical Research Institute 4 (respiratory, intracardiac, extracardiac, tumor), military medical specialty (disease) center 6 (kidney, ultrasound, orthopaedics, extramystical, blood, oral cavity), eugenics and child care center 3 (obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, secretion). The hospital is a post-doctoral mobile station of clinical medicine, with 22 doctoral degree authorized disciplines and 28 master degree authorized disciplines.
